Dave VanderWerp is currently a technical editor at CAR and DRIVER, a position he accepted in May 2004. He’s responsible for the majority of performance testing at the home office, as well as writing vehicle reviews and compiling specification tables. VanderWerp is a techie by trade, graduating from the University of Michigan in 2001 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. During his time at U of M, he was employed part-time as a road warrior, also known as a whipping boy, for CAR and DRIVER. Before joining CAR and DRIVER, he held engineering positions with both General Motors and Robert Bosch Corp. In his free time, VanderWerp races a 125cc go-kart in the summer, and in the winter he regularly participates in autocrosses on frozen lakes and campaigned a Civic in wheel-to-wheel ice racing.
