John Phillips graduated from Ohio State University and Oxford University. He has written for car magazines since 1974 and has also contributed stories to Sports Illustrated, Conde Nast Traveler, Elle, Harper’s, the Toronto Globe & Mail, and the Cleveland PlainDealer. For almost eight years he was Executive Editor at CAR and DRIVER and before that was a Senior Editor at Automobile. He has written two books—a work of fiction called Slippery (Sterling House, 2004) and a true-crime story called God Wants You To Roll (Carroll & Graf, 2005). Today, he mostly uses his imagination to mix cocktails, a hobby that has played hell with his 12-step program.
