Parade of Pistons (POP)
FLYING is the "title" sponsor of an aircraft showcase intended to draw piston-engine interested consumers from four different regional areas each year. The mission of the regional shows is two-fold: A) to create an opportunity for aviation consumers of piston aircraft to cost-effectively compare any/all aircraft models, types and manufacturers that meet the individual's purchase criteria and consideration set; B) create an opportunity for aircraft manufacturers to attract high net-worth (non-flying) individuals to a local location where they can be exposed to the fun and adventure of the general aviation lifestyle. As the event title sponsor, these four events will be named FLYING's Parade of Pistons. FLYING's sponsorship of POP is a tremendous opportunity to enhance and extend our brand.
Merchandising
At both EAA & Sun 'n Fun, FLYING operates a 5400 sq. foot merchandise tent facility and sells $150,000 (SNF) to $250,000 (EAA) worth of FLYING-logoed merchandise. The brand exposure is immense, from polos, hats, tees, jackets, shirts, tops, shorts, sweats, etc., to thousands of people walking around with FLYING bags, merchandise and photos of themselves on FLYING covers, all of them to be worn or displayed in homes and offices worldwide.
Charity Raffles
Since 1997, FLYING at our EAA AirVenture show merchandise tent has hosted annual raffles with unique prizes such as Mustang P-51 rides, aerobatic lessons with Patty Wagstaff, a Lancair kit airplane, Honda Motorcycles, etc., to raise money in support of two youth organizations - Challenge Air, a flight experience for handicapped kids and EAA's Young Eagles, a learn-to-fly experience for kids under 14. Both are on-going.
Corporate Angel Network (CAN): Flying annually hosts an industry-applauded sweepstakes at the National Business Aircraft Association show (NBAA), "raffling off" a two-year lease on a vehicle such as a Jaguar, Corvette, Dodge Pickup, or Mazda with the purpose of supporting the CAN, whose 500 corporate members fly cancer patients, at no charge, to and from their treatment centers in the empty seats on CAN members' corporate airplanes.
Online Reader Panel
Our online reader panel allows aviation enthusiasts to connect and discuss products and services, as well as exchange stories and information. Most users are readers of the magazine and are active contributors to the panel community. All users must register in order to participate in discussions, and the majority of these individuals participate in online surveys, providing invaluable insights to FLYING's readership.
