John Owens is Senior Vice President and Group Editorial Director of the Men’s Enthusiast Network of Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., Inc. Mr. Owens’ print and multi-media experience gives him a unique expertise to manage this portfolio of leading brands that includes: American Photo, Boating, Car and Driver, Cycle World, Flying, Popular Photography, Road & Track, and Sound & Vision. The Men’s Enthusiast Network reaches an audience of more than 20 million unduplicated adult readers each month, 61% of which are college educated with a median age of 39 and a median HHI of $69,227. Mr. Owens is also the Editor-in-Chief of Popular Photography, where he has brought an active, contemporary voice and design to the magazine. Newsstand sales have grown by double-digit percentages.
During his career in special-interest magazines, Mr. Owens has also served as Editorial Director of Yachting, Editor-in-Chief of Boating, and editor-in-chief of Travel Holiday. Prior to the magazine industry, Mr. Owens was a reporter and feature editor on daily newspapers.
Throughout his career at national consumer magazines, Mr. Owens has reported and photographed around the world, and he is a frequent speaker and guest on major radio and television shows.
