ELLE Decor Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell To Be Honored By the Savannah College of Art and Design

Stars of style and design will attend third annual Scad Style Étoile Awards celebration on April 10 in New York City at the French Embassy

The third annual SCAD STYLE ÉTOILE AWARDS will be held for the first time in New York City at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy at 972 Fifth Ave., at a cocktail reception on April 10 at 6 p.m., co-hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design President Paula S. Wallace and honorary co-host Pierre Vimont, Ambassador of France to the United States. The 2008 Étoile recipients being honored this year are interior designer and potter Jonathan Adler, ELLE DECOR Editor in Chief Margaret Russell and fashion designer Pierre Cardin, who is also being recognized for his historic restoration and cultural contributions to Lacoste, France. The SCAD STYLE ÉTOILE AWARDS benefit the SCAD Style Scholarship and the college’s study abroad program at SCAD-Lacoste.

Étoile, which means “a star in the sky” in French, connotes brilliance, glamour, iconic style and ideation. The SCAD STYLE ÉTOILE AWARDS honor innovative, trend-setting leaders in the fields of style and design. Past recipients have included Linda Fargo, Pamela Fiori, Santiago Barberi Gonzalez, Dakota Jackson, Jeffrey Kalinsky, Judy and Michael Mauldin, Lisa Newsom, David Yurman and west elm.

The gala evening will kick off SCAD Style April 10 – May 17. Renowned artists, designers and industry professionals will visit SCAD-Atlanta and SCAD-Savannah for a month-long series of events focused on style and design.
