Sheri Lapidus Named Executive Director, Public Relations, ELLE magazine

Sheri Lapidus has been named Executive Director, Public Relations for ELLE magazine (Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S.) it was announced today. In this newly created position, Lapidus will be responsible for all media relations related to the brand and will report to Carol Smith, SVP/Group Publisher.

“In her new role, Sheri will build on ELLE’s continued success and reputation by enhancing the magazine’s profile and awareness. We are thrilled to have her on board,” said Smith.

Lapidus was most recently Vice President of the Media Strategies Group at Kaplow. Prior to Kaplow, she was Director, Public Affairs at In Style magazine where for 11 years, she led a team responsible for generating maximum electronic and print publicity for the monthly publication, special issues, book series, television specials, instyle.com and special events.

Lapidus’ appointment comes in the midst of a very successful year for ELLE. The magazine closed 2007 with 2,510 advertising pages (Publisher’s Information Bureau) – the highest number in the magazine’s history and fifth consecutive year of advertising growth. Newsstand sales are up +9% over 2007 and the magazine increased rate base in 2008 to 1,050,000. In October 2007, Advertising Age named ELLE in its annual Top 10 “A” List for the second year in a row. ELLE has also achieved enormous success with Project Runway – the Bravo reality show that just completed its fourth season and is currently casting season five.
